THE FRAMEWORK FOR PLAYING
Terms of use
Rules for using the Pianolia site and workshop, to enjoy music and respect everyone's rights.
Version of 27 October 2026
Information to be completed. The publisher's identity and contact details are shown in the legal notice. Fields in brackets must be completed with accurate information.
1. The Pianolia service
Pianolia is a piano practice tool: piece playback, visual guidance, tempo settings, hand and passage practice, and an improvisation workshop. It can import musical sources and, when the relevant engines are available, suggest a transcription.
These terms cover the site and its workshop. The service publisher is [PUBLISHER'S NAME OR COMPANY NAME], identified in the legal notice. You can read these terms before using the workshop and keep a copy.
2. Access and operation
The discovery study and some local features are available without an account. In the connected workshop, an account with a verified email address is required to save pieces and exercises and use server analysis. Free capacity is three credits shared between saved pieces and improvisations. Any Internet and equipment costs remain those of your provider. Any future paid offer must present its price and terms before a commitment; these terms do not constitute an order or subscription.
A compatible browser and, depending on the activity, access to sound, microphone or a MIDI keyboard are needed. Browser permissions are yours to grant: you may refuse or revoke them, which may prevent the corresponding feature from working.
MIDI, MusicXML and compatible projects can be opened in the browser. Transcription of audio, PDFs or images and some link imports depend on an available server and engines. The workshop indicates available features; a displayed format or source does not guarantee that server analysis is active in every version.
Minors use the service with appropriate support from their legal representative, according to their age and ability to understand how it works.
3. Your files and rights
You retain your rights in files and creations you import. Importing does not transfer ownership to Pianolia. It enables operations needed for your request: playback, conversion, analysis and display in the workshop, according to your chosen workflow.
You must hold the rights or permissions needed for your intended use. Access to a work online, through streaming or a video platform does not by itself grant the right to download, transcribe or distribute it. Also respect third-party service terms and statutory exceptions where applicable.
The workshop is not a public file-sharing space. Exporting grants no additional rights in the original work. Before publishing an arrangement or transcription, check the required permissions.
Pianolia's logo, text, interface and resources remain subject to applicable rights and licences. Rights in works, photographs and samples are detailed in the music credits and the photo credits. Naming an artist does not mean they endorse Pianolia.
4. Musical results and practice
An automatic transcription is a working suggestion. Depending on source quality and engine, it may contain errors in notes, rhythm, duration, structure or hand assignment. Review and listen to the result, then correct it if needed before teaching use, performance or export.
Pianolia facilitates practice; it promises neither perfect reproduction of every source nor a specific level of musical progress. Illustrations and examples show how it works. Adjust your volume and setup to play comfortably, and adapt exercises to your level.
5. Saving and deletion
In the connected workshop, saved projects and settings are linked to your account and can be found on another device after signing in. An Internet connection is required to save and load them. Local mode and older projects that have not been transferred remain in browser data: changing browsers or clearing data may make them unavailable.
Use export features to keep copies of pieces and creations you want to retain, especially before clearing site data. Moving a project to the bin still allows restoration; permanent deletion is a separate operation.
Where server analysis has been used, deleting a local project does not delete any files transmitted to the server. Retention arrangements and data requests are described in the privacy policy.
6. Respectful use
Use the service without infringing others' rights or disrupting its operation. In particular, you must not send unlawful or malicious content, seek unauthorised access, bypass technical protections or deliberately overload service resources.
A temporary technical measure may be needed to protect the service against misuse or an incident. It must remain proportionate to its cause, subject to the publisher's legal obligations.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, you may describe it through the contact page, specifying the page and assistive technology used.
7. Availability and responsibility
Updates, maintenance or incidents may interrupt some features. Availability also depends on your equipment, browser, connection and third-party services used. The publisher takes appropriate measures to operate the service and resolve reported incidents.
Each party is responsible for breaches attributable to it under the conditions provided by law. No clause excludes liability or removes a right where the law prohibits such exclusion or removal, including applicable consumer protections.
Links to third-party services lead to their own terms and policies. The publisher remains responsible for its own obligations.
8. Changes, contact and disputes
These terms may be updated to reflect changes to the service or applicable rules. The date at the top identifies the version. Changes apply prospectively, respecting existing commitments and acquired rights; any new obligation requiring your consent must be presented before applying.
You may stop using the service at any time and export or delete your projects. Questions or difficulties may be reported as described on the contact page.
These terms are governed by French law, subject to mandatory protections available in your country of residence. If no amicable resolution is reached, jurisdiction is determined by applicable rules; these terms impose no exclusive jurisdiction on consumers.
If a professional activity directed at consumers requires the appointment of a consumer mediator, their information must be provided in the legal notice. This statement does not appoint a mediator.
